Question: Can I print your photos anywhere?
Answer: Yes, you can; however, printing companies can differ in quality of prints received. Once you receive your images, I will provide you a handout with several good companies to go with for quality prints. I will also provide explanation of different types of printing paper as well as enlargement tips.
Question: Can I post your pictures on my Facebook page?
Answer: Yes, and I would love for you to do this! Please make sure to credit me as your source for pictures.
Question: What should I wear?
Answer: It depends on what kind of looking you are trying to achieve with your photos. I generally do not recommend solid black or white unless they are pants. Because I edit my photos with a higher contrast, solid black and white loses all detail when the contrast is increased. Your photo location can help define your clothing. If you want an urban look, mix your prints and colors. If you want a more traditional photo, pick a primary color and work around that as your main focus.
Question: Can I bring a prop?
Answer: Absolutely! I encourage you bringing something meaningful or fun to your session. If it’s a newborn photo, bring that handmade quilt your grandmother made. Bring your toddler’s current wubby. Planning on getting married in Vegas? Bring some Elvis-styled sunglasses for a quirky photo!
I find that almost walking babies and toddlers often need something to sit on, so I also have colorful chairs and benches that we can incorporate into your photos. For tweens and teens, I have vintage foot lockers as props.
Question: Where and when will you take our photos?
Answer: Because I am a natural light photographer, I either shoot outside or in a well-lit area of your home. I know of many local areas for great backdrops in your photos. If you have a suggestion for a local area, let me know, and I’d be happy to scope it out to see if it would be a good site for photos.
Natural light photos turn out best when not in direct sunlight. I encourage that your photos be taken early morning or late afternoon. Having two toddlers myself, I understand how important naps and meals are, so after a good breakfast or nap, toddlers tend to perform better for photos.
